Baseball Game Preview: Luxemburg-Casco Spartans vs. Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans will take on the Fox Valley Lutheran Foxes at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Luxemburg-Casco 3.3, Fox Valley Lutheran 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Saturday as neither Luxemburg-Casco nor Clintonville made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Spartans never let the Truckers get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. The game was the first time the Spartans have beaten the Truckers on their field since April 9, 2019.

The result came thanks to Jake Chervenka's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Jacob Coisman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Chervenka, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Fox Valley Lutheran's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 5-2 to Oconto Falls.

Fox Valley Lutheran saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Schlueter, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for Luxemburg-Casco and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Fox Valley Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Luxemburg-Casco suffered a grim 12-0 defeat to Fox Valley Lutheran in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
