Soccer Game Preview: Mead vs. Niwot

The Mead Mavericks will head out to face off against the Niwot Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mead will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Mead's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Silver Creek by a score of 2-0. Mead's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last four contests.

Addison Martinez and Reese Ormsby scored both of Mead's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Niwot came into Tuesday's game having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Frederick on Tuesday.

Mead pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Niwot, their win bumped their record up to 5-8-1.

Mead took their victory against Niwot in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 5-1 score. In that contest, the Mavericks amassed a halftime lead of 4-1, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
