Softball Recap: El Paso-Gridley's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

El Paso-Gridley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Clinton, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Titans were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Maroons on Saturday. This was payback for the Titans, who suffered a 16-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Ava Pinkham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, El Paso-Gridley got a massive performance out of Tori Seggerman, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Seggerman a new career-high. Jaelynn Krones was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

El Paso-Gridley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

El Paso-Gridley's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-7. As for Clinton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Coming up, El Paso-Gridley will head out to square off against Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Titans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Clinton, they will welcome Warrensburg-Latham at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
