Softball Preview: Chapman Fighting Irish vs. Wamego Red Raiders

Chapman is 0-10 against Wamego since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Chapman Fighting Irish will head out on the road to challenge the Wamego Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. The pair have allowed few runs on average, (Chapman: 2.5, Wamego: 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Chapman is headed out hoping to continue their success from last week, when they picked up their first road win of the season on Friday. They fell just short of St. Marys by a score of 3-2. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest runs Chapman has scored all season.

Meanwhile, Wamego sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over Abilene on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for Wamego.

This is the second loss in a row for Chapman and nudges their season record down to 13-2. As for Wamego, they pushed their record up to 17-2 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Chapman suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to Wamego in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Thankfully for Chapman, Ashten Pierson (who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with a home run, two runs, and a stolen base) won't be suiting up this time.
