Basketball Recap: Leonard Comes Up Short

Leonard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Worth Trojans. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 46-27 back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Leonard still got an impressive performance from Witney Naurelus, who posted 19 points. Another player making a difference was Naiima Jean, who put up eight points.

Lake Worth found their leader in sophomore Jocilynne Sweeney, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 16 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Sweeney is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracy Joseph, who had seven points and 12 boards.

Leonard's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Lake Worth, their win bumped their record up to 5-10.

Leonard is taking a road trip to face off against Forest Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Worth, they will take on FAU High at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Worth is facing FAU High at the right time seeing as FAU High is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
