Baseball Recap: Holmes' Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Holmes had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Hertford County Bears as they made off with a 20-5 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 23-3 win on Tuesday.

Maddox Bass made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Myles Cobb was incredible, going 3-for-4 with five runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those five runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Walston, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Holmes kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive matchups.

Holmes' record now sits at 19-5. As for Hertford County, they dropped their record down to 1-21 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight at home.

As of now, neither Holmes nor the Bears have any future games scheduled.
