The Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Bobcats are taking a road trip to challenge North Clay/Clay City at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Martinsville. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Bluestreaks: they've now won four in a row.
AJ Radloff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is undefeated when Radloff posts two or more runs, but 2-14 otherwise.

In other batting news, Isaac Wells and Blake Mueller did most of the damage at the plate: Wells went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, while Mueller went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Mueller a new career-high. Kyle Lamb also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, North Clay/Clay City entered their tilt with Tuscola on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 6-0 win. Considering North Clay/Clay City has won ten games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Cayden Craig, who gave up just four hits to keep Tuscola off the board. Craig has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Carder Walden was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Ian Jones was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
North Clay/Clay City's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, their record now sits at 7-14.
Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City couldn't quite get it done against North Clay/Clay City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-6. Can the Bobcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
