The Cedarcrest Red Wolves will challenge the Woodinville Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Cedarcrest's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Bellevue as they made off with a 22-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Red Wolves.
Meanwhile, Woodinville came tearing into Wednesday's game with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Highlanders 21-1.
Maya Matthews and Hayden Kneeland were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Matthews tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Kneeland struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Matthews has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At the plate, Matthews went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Kneeland went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Matthews has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Bella Gonzalez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Ava Udom was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Woodinville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .703. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hazen only posted an OBP of .158.
Woodinville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cedarcrest, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8-1.
