Preview: Dayspring Academy Shires vs. United Christian Academy
The Dayspring Academy Shires will head out on the road to challenge United Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dayspring Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Dayspring Academy pushed their score all the way to 71 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-71 hit to the loss column at the hands of Madison Academy. Dayspring Academy has struggled against Madison Academy recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Dayspring Academy got a solid performance out of John-Michael Martin, who shot 4-for-8 from deep and dropped a triple-double on 45 points, 14 rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martin has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jordan Jackson, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to United Christian Academy, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They fell 47-36 to Jonathan Edwards Classical Academy on Tuesday.
Dayspring Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-15. As for United Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything came up roses for Dayspring Academy against United Christian Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 84-48 victory. With Dayspring Academy ahead 47-27 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
