Basketball Recap: Sierra Lutheran's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sierra Lutheran). They blew past the Incline Highlanders 34-9 on Thursday. The win was some much needed relief for the Falcons as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Sierra Lutheran got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Carpenter out in front who posted eight points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Carpenter a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rukhsana Khan, who had six points and six steals.

Sierra Lutheran's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Incline, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Sierra Lutheran didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 34-25 loss against Coral Academy of Science - Reno on the 11th. As for Incline, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 55-17 defeat against Pershing County on the 10th.
