League recap: Monacan scores huge upset over Clover Hill

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Monacan, who took down 143rd ranked Clover Hill, 21-0.

Bird extended the longest winning streak in AAA Dominion this week by beating Manchester, 19-10. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.

Midlothian's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Justin Joyce threw for 68 and one touchdown and John Gerard had 32 yards receiving. On the ground Taylor Stout chipped in 89 yards. Stout helped Midlothian's passing attack out by catching one ball for 20 yards.

Midlothian's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Joyce has thrown for 436 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Daniel Jackson has nine catches for 162 yards. Stout leads the league in rushing with 179 yards.

A big matchup in the league this week will be when James River takes on Bird. The Rapids are in fifth place, while David Bedwell's team is in first place.

There should be lots of points scored when the Trojans and Huguenot face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Midlothian comes in having scored 79 this season, while the Falcons have scored 16. Kevin Thomas's team scored 38 points last week as it defeated Wythe.

Cosby moved up to 62 from 92 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in AAA Dominion. The Titans climbed the ranks as a result of a 44-6 win over Huguenot.
