Grace Christian is 8-2 against Roanoke Valley Christian since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Warriors will head out to take on the EAGLES at 5:00 p.m. Grace Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Grace Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Blue Ridge on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Barons by a score of 7-6. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.
Chase Adams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Abe Hochstetler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Roanoke Valley Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Westover Christian Academy on Monday. The EAGLES were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the EAGLES, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Colton Bowman was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Roanoke Valley Christian is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Bowman was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josh Kraciuk, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Mioduszewski, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Roanoke Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Grace Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-2. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-8 record.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grace Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Roanoke Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Grace Christian took their victory against Roanoke Valley Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
