Softball Recap: Grand Island Gets the Win

Grand Island won the last time they faced Niagara Falls and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Vikings came out on top against the Wolverines by a score of 7-4.

Natalie Kopf spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Avery McNulty was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those runs were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Kalie Farkas, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

The victory got Grand Island back to even at 2-2. As for Niagara Falls, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Grand Island will face off against rival Kenmore West at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Niagara Falls is set to take on their familiar foe North Tonawanda at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
