It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Harlingen South had no problem doing just that  on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Vela Sabercats  an   11-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won 14 contests by six  runs or more  so far this season.
 Lexi Sandoval and  Kailee Silva made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing,  Sandoval   didn't allow a single  earned run and  allowed only  one  hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Meanwhile,  Silva   tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. Sandoval has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  given up  more than one  earned run in 13 consecutive appearances. At the plate,  Sandoval  went 1-for-3 with two  runs, while  Silva  went 2-for-4 with one  home run and five  RBI.
 In other batting news,  Jaylin Mata was  incredible,  going a perfect 4-for-4 with one  home run, four  runs,  and three  RBI.  Georgia Chapa was another key player,  going 1-for-2 with two  runs and one  double.
Harlingen South has  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Vela, their loss  ended  a  six-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 12-9.
The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Harlingen South beat the Sabercats by a score of  9-3 on Friday.
