Softball Game Preview: Findlay Trojans vs. Bowling Green Bobcats

The Findlay Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Bowling Green Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Findlay's victory against Defiance wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Trojans had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 5-4 on Thursday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Trojans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Bowling Green was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Ross, sneaking past 7-5. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Little Giants: they've now won four in a row.

Jules Firsdon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hannah Yarger and Zoe Ziems did most of the damage at the plate: Yarger went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base, while Ziems went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Ziems has posted over her last 11 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Sayler, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bowling Green kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Findlay's record is now 9-5. As for Bowling Green, their record now sits at 6-10.
