It was a good run, but Greenway unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-match winning streak on Monday. They fell 3-1 to the Thunderbird Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-18, 22-25, 25-13.
Karissa Heenan paced Greenway's offense, picking up eight kills. Heenan got some help from Haidyn Nelson and her 25 assists. Heenan was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Bailey Thornton was the offensive standout of the match as she had 14 digs and two aces. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played. Emmy Kuntz also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
Greenway now has a losing record of 12-13. As for Thunderbird, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 21-12.
Looking ahead, Greenway will challenge Paradise Honors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Thunderbird, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Shadow Mountain on the 28th.
