The Woonsocket Villa Novans will head out on the road to challenge the Tiverton Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Woonsocket made easy work of Juanita Sanchez Complex and carried off a 13-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Villa Novans.

Patrick Munger made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Woonsocket got a big performance out of Braylon Guilbeault, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Guilbeault has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jullian De Jesus, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Tiverton never let their opponents score on Monday. Everything went their way against Times Squared Academy as they made off with an 18-0 victory. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Like Woonsocket, Tiverton also got a great game from a two-way player: Nolan Mercer. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mercer is becoming a predictor of Tiverton's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Mercer was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Rego, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He has become a key player for Tiverton: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Brody Travers was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Tiverton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The victory got Tiverton back to even at 8-8. As for Woonsocket, their record is now 14-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Woonsocket has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Tiverton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Woonsocket came up short against Tiverton when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Villa Novans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
