Softball Game Preview: Nokomis Redskins vs. Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals

The Nokomis Redskins are taking a road trip to square off against the Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Things were looking good for Nokomis after they put the first points on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 10-1 to Greenville. The defeat continues a trend for the Redskins in their meetings with the Comets: they've now lost four in a row.

Nokomis saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Maddison DeWerff, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits DeWerff has posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Warrensburg-Latham had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They came up short against Tri-Valley on Tuesday, falling 10-0.

Nokomis now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Warrensburg-Latham, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Nokomis suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Warrensburg-Latham in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can Nokomis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
