League recap: Reed breaks off league-leading run for Mesquite

5A Region II District 12 recap September 17, 2013

Mesquite's Shadavian Reed rumbled for the longest rushing play in 5A Region II District 12 this season in his game against Naaman Forest last week. Reed scampered for 83 yards on the play and finished with 213 on the day as his team beat the Rangers.

Mesquite was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, Robbie Robinson's team defeated Naaman Forest 47-33.

Destri White put up the best numbers through the air as Horn bested Duncanville. He finished with 20 completions for 291 yards and 2 touchdowns. White's favorite target this week was Del'Michael High, who caught 6 passes for 75 yards.

Reed was a force in the backfield as the Skeeters topped Sam McElroy's team.

Octayvius Miles was the best wideout in the league this week as Mesquite bested the Rangers. Miles tallied 3 receptions for 89 yards.

He was 20-32 with 2 interceptions.

Reed was the best running back in 5A Region II District 12 this week. Teammate Denzel Uzaka added to the ground attack by rushing for 14 yards.

The Jaguars' White and Jarrison Stewart have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback White has thrown for 734 yards this season, while Stewart has 17 catches for 309 yards. Jamycal Hasty from Longview leads the league in rushing with 509 yards.

North Mesquite scaled the state rankings by moving to 173 from 269 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Stallions were able to make move up by defeating Lakeview Centennial 35-14.
