O'Connor faced Xavier College Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. O'Connor had just enough and edged out Xavier College Prep 5-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Rachel Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Charleigh Schuettler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with six RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Raegan Holtorf, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

O'Connor is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Xavier College Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5-3.
