Preview: Jackson Timberwolves vs. Mount Si Wildcats

The Jackson Timberwolves are on the road again on Tuesday and plays the Mount Si Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, it was close, but Jackson sidestepped Skyline for a 53-50 victory.

Jackson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Mcferran, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 21 rebounds. Mcferran has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Cooke, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Mount Si had already won 14 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.7 points), and they went ahead and made it 15 on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat North Creek 90-55 at home. Mount Si has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Mount Si's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Latt Ford led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trevor Hennig, who scored 21 points along with five assists and five rebounds.

Jackson pushed their record up to 15-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Mount Si, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-2 record this season.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Jackson have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 38.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Mount Si struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.4 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Jackson might still be hurting after the 57-36 defeat they got from Mount Si in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. Thankfully for Jackson, Jabe Mullins (who scored 24 points along with eight assists) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
