Softball Game Preview: College Place Hawks vs. Connell Eagles

College Place has gone a perfect 10-0 against Connell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when College Place Hawks take on Connell Eagles at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

College Place is headed into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line, something Naches Valley almost spoiled on Saturday. College Place came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 16-15 W against Naches Valley.

Charley Amick and Adrienne Berube did most of the damage at the plate: Amick got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI, while Berube went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Amick is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Graycelyn Tonn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: College Place kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Connell and Wahluke meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. Connell blew past Wahluke 23-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Warriors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Connell's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for College Place, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

College Place took their victory against Connell in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-6. Does College Place have another victory up their sleeve, or will Connell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
