Soccer Game Preview: Griswold vs. New London

The Griswold Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the New London Whalers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. New London took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Griswold, who comes in off a win.

Griswold took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Montville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolverines never let Wolves get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory last Friday. The score was all tied up 0-0 at the break, but Griswold were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, New London faced East Lyme in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Whalers came up short against the Vikings, falling 7-0. New London haven't had much luck with East Lyme recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Having lost for the first time this season, New London fell to 6-1-1. As for Griswold, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Griswold suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to New London when the teams last played on September 5th. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
