Baseball Recap: Chewelah Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Chewelah's offense. They fell just short of the Asotin Panthers by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. The Cougars were not able to make up for their loss to the Panthers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Luke McGuire spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5 strikeouts per game.

At the plate, Chewelah saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dekota Acosta, who went 1-for-3 with one triple.

Chewelah's defeat dropped their record down to 19-2. As for Asotin, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-4.

Chewelah has already played their next contest, a 4-2 loss against Freeman on the 15th. As for Asotin, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-1 defeat against Colfax on the 15th.
