Basketball Recap: Northeast Takes a Loss

Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 61-41 to the East Laurens Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 481st, while the Falcons are ranked 80th).

Despite the loss, Northeast still got an impressive performance from Keundre Jackson, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tavarus Tinsley Jr, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 11 points.

Rashund Washington Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for East Laurens, going 6 of 11 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kemario Mitchell, who posted 12 points and three steals.

Northeast's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for East Laurens, they pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Northeast wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-37 loss against Washington County on the 3rd. As for East Laurens, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-60 victory against Bleckley County on the 3rd.
