Baseball Recap: Northwest Catholic's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Northwest Catholic can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Canton Warriors. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.

Thomas Cerreta was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northwest Catholic is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Cerreta was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin George, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Northwest Catholic's record now sits at 7-10. As for Canton, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-9.

Looking ahead, Northwest Catholic will head out to square off against Lewis Mills at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The Lions are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Canton, they will be playing at home against Windsor Locks at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
