Baseball Recap: Denver South Takes a Loss

Denver South was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 5-2 to the Northfield Nighthawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Nighthawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 back in April.

Hunter Vitello was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Leo Royer made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Denver South's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Northfield, their record is now 17-4.

Denver South wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-1 victory against Vista PEAK Prep on the 12th. As for Northfield, they have also already played their next game, a 6-4 win against Denver North on the 12th.
