West Delaware is 8-2 against Independence since July of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hawks will welcome the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (West Delaware has three straight victories, Independence has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

West Delaware is returning to their home field after beating Wapsie Valley on theirs, despite the fact Wapsie Valley has dominated at home this season. The Hawks walked away with an 8-3 win over the Warriors on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Independence came up short against Edgewood-Colesburg on Saturday and fell 5-2.

West Delaware pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.

West Delaware came out on top in a nail-biter against Independence in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
