Volleyball Recap: Winnetonka Griffins vs. Kearney Bulldogs

Winnetonka had lost seven straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 7-10-1 to make it eight. They lost 3-0 to the Kearney Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Griffins of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

MacKenzie Turner paced Winnetonka's offense, picking up three kills. Turner got some help from Shayla Nguyen and her 29 assists.

As for Kearney, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7-2 record this season. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 23rd (when they won 3-0).

Kearney can attribute much of their success to Payton Rudd, who had seven digs and four aces. That's the most aces Rudd has posted since back in October of 2024. Harper Bond also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Winnetonka has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Paseo Academy of Performing Arts on the 2nd. As for Kearney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 win against Notre Dame de Sion on the 1st.
