Softball Recap: Jefferson County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Mercersburg Academy

Jefferson County was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Mercersburg Academy on Thursday. The Jefferson County Patriots blew past the Mercersburg Academy Storm 16-7. The Patriots' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Bella Watson was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Zoe Lawson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Watson wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Jefferson County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. Jefferson County is 3-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Jefferson County now has a winning record of 6-5.

Looking ahead, Jefferson County will square off against Bentworth at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jefferson County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Mercersburg Academy, they will take on Patrick Henry at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Mercersburg Academy is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak dating back to last season.
