Volleyball Game Preview: Thompson Tommies vs. Devils Lake Firebirds + How To Watch

After both having extra time off, the Thompson Tommies and the Devils Lake Firebirds will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Thompson's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Devils Lake has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.

Thompson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Dakota's top teams: Carrington, who was ranked seventh at the time (Thompson was ranked fourth). The Tommies fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Devils Lake got the win against Hillsboro/Central Valley on Monday by a conclusive 3-0.

While Devils Lake might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Hillsboro/Central Valley scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23, 25-19.

Thompson better focus on containing Julia McIvor and Riley Remmick as the pair were huge in Devils Lake's win. McIvor had 15 digs and two aces, while Remmick had six digs and three aces. Remmick has been hot, having posted two or more aces the last six times she's played.

Thompson's loss dropped their record down to 16-3-1. As for Devils Lake, they now have a winning record of 10-9-2.

Everything went Thompson's way against Devils Lake in their previous matchup back in September, as Thompson made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Tommies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Firebirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
