Basketball Recap: Lamar County Comes Up Short

Lamar County lost against Hubbertville back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Lamar County Bulldogs came up short against the Hubbertville Lions, falling 77-56. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Lions are ranked 201st).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hubbertville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tracee Cowan, who went 7 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kane Rushing, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 21 points.

Lamar County's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-20. As for Hubbertville, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lamar County has already played their next matchup (against South Lamar), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Hubbertville Lions challenge the Berry Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
