Baseball Preview: Easton Warriors vs. Wicomico Indians
Easton is 8-0 against Wicomico since April of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Easton Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Wicomico Indians at 4:00 p.m. Easton will be strutting in after a win while Wicomico will be coming in after a defeat.
Easton took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by an 11-0 margin over North Dorchester. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Easton considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Cullen Murphy tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and only one hit over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Dustin Blue was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Dressler, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, sadly, Wicomico is still looking for their first win of the season after ten contests. They suffered a rough 12-5 loss at the hands of Bennett on Friday.
The victory got Easton back to even at 5-5. As for Wicomico, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
Easton took their win against Wicomico in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 11-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Easton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
