Softball Recap: St. Michael's Comes Up Short

St. Michael extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 18-6 in the process. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Robertson Cardinals. The Horsemen were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 12-0.

Jaslene Ramirez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

As for Robertson, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 15th.

On Robertson's side, Ariana Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. Sanchez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amor Allen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Griego, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

While St. Michael's had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
