Basketball Recap: McCluer South-Berkeley Takes a Loss

McCluer South-Berkeley was the 52-47 winner over Affton when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The McCluer South-Berkeley Bulldogs fell 42-32 to the Affton Cougars on Friday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, McCluer South-Berkeley still got an impressive performance from Dylan Merkle, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Merkle has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mustafa Taylor, who posted five points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, McCluer South-Berkeley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

McCluer South-Berkeley's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Affton, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCluer South-Berkeley will take on Brentwood at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Affton, they will face off against Herculaneum at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
