Baseball Game Preview: Cloverleaf Colts vs. Coventry Comets

The Cloverleaf Colts will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Coventry Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

Cloverleaf fell victim to Streetsboro and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Rockets, falling 8-0. The Colts have struggled against the Rockets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coventry). Everything went their way against Mansfield Christian on Saturday as they made off with a 12-2 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Comets with their most commanding win of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Coventry and bumps their season record up to 3-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Cloverleaf, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Cloverleaf skirted past Coventry 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Comets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
