Basketball Recap: Tulelake Comes Up Short

Tulelake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Portola Tigers and fell 74-36. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Honkers of the 62-44 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Portola was led to victory by Connor Sheridan and Magnus Berg. Sheridan dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 boards, while Berg went 12 of 21 on his way to 26 points and seven rebounds. Sheridan has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 39 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Enrique Vargas, who posted nine points and six rebounds.

Tulelake's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Portola, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Tulelake didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-42 loss against Modoc on the 21st. As for Portola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 81-70 victory against Fall River on the 21st.
