Volleyball Recap: STEM School Highlands Ranch Spartans vs. Alameda Pirates

STEM School Highlands Ranch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Alameda Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on April 2nd.

STEM School Highlands Ranch wouldn't go down easily and took Alameda into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 15-8.

Isaac Friend paced STEM School Highlands Ranch's offense, picking up nine kills. Friend got some help from Jonathan Kim and his 18 assists. Kim was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

STEM School Highlands Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Alameda, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-9.
