Volleyball Recap: Newcomerstown Takes a Loss

Newcomerstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 3-1 to the Danville Blue Devils. If the Trojans were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The match finished with set scores of 25-6, 25-23, 16-25, 25-22.

Diane Raber paced Newcomerstown's offense, picking up nine kills. Raber got some help from Maggie Collins and her 21 assists. Raber was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Newcomerstown's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Danville, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Coming up, Newcomerstown will square off against Strasburg-Franklin at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Tigers have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Danville, they will head out on the road to face off against Loudonville at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
