Basketball Game Preview: Banff Bears vs. Northland Christian Cougars

The Banff Bears will face off against the Northland Christian Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Banff took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 61-49 win over Central Christian Academy. While the Bears didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Jayden Stewart produced another solid effort shooting 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a triple-double with 18 points, ten rebounds, and ten assists. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.4 blocks per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Shelby, who shot 60% from the field on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, Northland Christian took their game two weeks ago with ease, bagging a 55-22 victory over Lifestyle Christian. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Victors recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The victory got Northland Christian back to even at 1-1. As for Banff, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
