Preview: Fayette Ware Wildcats vs. Winfield Pirates
The Fayette Ware Wildcats will take on the Winfield Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fayette Ware has ten straight wins, Winfield has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Fayette Ware posted their closest victory since December 5, 2023 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Memphis Home Education Association 50-47.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fayette Ware to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jeremiah Hayes, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Eric Jones, who scored 12 points along with five assists and three steals.
Winfield suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Oakman by a score of 49-46. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Winfield has scored all season.
Fayette Ware's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.08 points. As for Winfield, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
