Baseball Recap: Skutt Catholic Extends Home Winning Streak to 12

There's no place like home for Skutt Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Roncalli Catholic Crimson Pride with a sharp 11-1 win on Friday. The SkyHawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by six runs or more this season.

Bubba Day spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Van Dyke, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Skutt Catholic's victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Roncalli Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
