Preview: Overton Eagles vs. Ravenna Bluejays
The Overton Eagles will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against the Ravenna Bluejays at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Overton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Friday.
Overton scored the most points they've had all season to find success. They blew past Pleasanton 65-41. Given Overton's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while Pleasanton is ranked 241st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Overton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brock McCarter led the charge by scoring 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Banzhaf, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Meanwhile, Ravenna lost to Cambridge on the road by a decisive 48-32 margin on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Ravenna has scored all season.
The victory makes it two in a row for Overton and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Ravenna, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Overton lost to Ravenna on the road by a decisive 55-36 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. Can Overton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
