Basketball Game Preview: Pocahontas County Warriors vs. Pendleton County Wildcat

Pocahontas County is 2-8 against Pendleton County since December of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Pocahontas County Warriors will challenge the Pendleton County Wildcat at 7:00 p.m. Pocahontas County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Pocahontas County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Union 65-34. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Tigers are ranked 109th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Pocahontas County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Allyson Taylor, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Calli Propst, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 rebounds and nine assists.

Pocahontas County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Pendleton County entered their tilt with Paw Paw on Friday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Pirates 55-18. The Wildcat have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Pocahontas County's record is now 15-4. As for Pendleton County, their record is now 15-6.
