Softball Recap: HCYA Victorious

HCYA hadn't done well against Grand Oaks recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. HCYA came out on top against the Grand Oaks Grizzlies by a score of 6-3. This was payback for HCYA, who suffered a 13-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Milynnzi Hall was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.

In other batting news, Kiran Kyham was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Eloni Preston, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

HCYA kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

HCYA's win bumped their record up to 19-5-4. As for Grand Oaks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7 record this season.

HCYA will venture away from home to face off against Houston Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. HCYA's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Houston Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Grand Oaks, they will face off against Willis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
