Baseball Game Preview: North Salinas Vikings vs. Overfelt Royals

North Salinas has gone a perfect 4-0 against Overfelt recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The North Salinas Vikings will challenge the Overfelt Royals at 11:00 a.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

North Salinas lost 12-2 to Monte Vista Christian on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost five in a row.

North Salinas saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Avina, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. That's the most hits Avina has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Overfelt fell victim to Harbor and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-0 to the Pirates, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Royals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

North Salinas now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Overfelt, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went North Salinas' way against Overfelt when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as North Salinas made off with a 14-1 victory. Does North Salinas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Overfelt turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
