Football Recap: Hough Huskies vs. Myers Park Mustangs
The matchup between Hough and Myers Park on Friday hardly resembled the 13-10 effort from their previous meeting. The Hough Huskies claimed a resounding 52-13 victory over the Myers Park Mustangs at home. With the Huskies ahead 28-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Ralph (Trey) Blakeney was a one-man wrecking crew for Hough as he threw for 323 yards and six touchdowns while completing 77.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 38 yards. The dominant performance gave him a new career- in rushing yards. Tyran Evans was another key player, picking up 144 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hough was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 527 total yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Myers Park only gained 272.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Hough's defense and their five sacks. Leading the way was Cameron Cyr and his four.
When it comes to explaining why Myers Park lost, don't look at Jared Lockhart. Despite the final result, he rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, and also threw for 141 yards and a touchdown.
The win got Hough back to even at 1-1. As for Myers Park, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2.
Hough will take on Carolina Forest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Myers Park, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Sun Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
