Baseball Game Preview: Copper Canyon Aztecs vs. Central Bobcats

The Copper Canyon Aztecs will take on the Central Bobcats at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Copper Canyon and Westview meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. Copper Canyon fell 7-4 to Westview.

Ulysses Encinas was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Sierra Linda, falling 20-3.

Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javier Godinez, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Copper Canyon's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Copper Canyon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. It's a different story for Central, though, as they've only averaged .211. Will they be able to contain Copper Canyon's hitters?
