Dodgeville is a perfect 10-0 against Richland Center since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Dodgers will host the Hornets at 5:00 p.m. Dodgeville will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Dodgeville made easy work of Westby and carried off a 14-4 victory.
Ava Lord was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Lord was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Vanessa James was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Olivia Forsyth was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Dodgeville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Richland Center nor Prairie du Chien made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Hornets fell just short of the Blackhawks by a score of 2-1. The Hornets have struggled against the Blackhawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.
Kyree Fischer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Richland Center saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carley Mieden, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Maddie McGlynn also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Richland Center's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Dodgeville, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Everything went Dodgeville's way against Richland Center in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Dodgeville made off with a 14-0 victory. Will the Dodgers repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
