Volleyball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Canton took on Needville on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 2-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2021.

Kaylee Rogers paced Canton's offense, picking up six kills. Rogers got some help from Kennady D and her seven assists. Finally, Rogers was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.

Among those leading the charge was Mckenzi Griffin, who had 12 digs and three aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in November of 2024.

Canton's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Needville, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1.

Canton wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Nixon on the 16th. As for Needville, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Aubrey on the 16th.
